Hey! I’m Stefan Marais, most people call me Stef for short.

I’ve worked in kitchens all over the world, from simple cafes, bistros, and brasseries to fine dining restaurants and in recipe development.

From washing dishes to get my foot in the kitchen door in the UK, to becoming a partner and executive chef for a group of restaurants in Cape Town, to the green jungles of Goa, India, and the sandy shores of the Middle East, I’ve been lucky enough to experience many different flavors, textures, and cooking techniques while meeting all kinds of wonderful people from different walks of life.

This has all contributed to a fun-loving style of cooking that draws inspiration from many different cultures and regions.

I love working with food, cooking, and having fun in the kitchen. This site is where I share recipes, cooking videos from my YouTube channel, cookbook reviews, and just some general thoughts.

Look out to see if you can spot my little mascot that is always hiding around the kitchen and in my recipe pages!
